National Oilwell Varco (NOV), a Fortune 500 company that designs and manufactures equipment used in oil and gas drilling and production, signed a 10-year lease earlier this year with Chapman Properties to develop a new 27,000 sq. ft. build to suit service and support facility in Leetsdale Industrial Park. The new facility will allow NOV to expand their service and support capabilities and meet the needs of area customers created by increased drilling activity and development in the Utica and Marcellus Shale.
Construction at the Pittsburgh industrial property commenced in March, and it is anticipated that the NOV facility will be complete and in operation later this month. Chapman Properties is constructing this new building on a 5-acre parcel located at the entrance to Leetsdale Industrial Park. NOV chose this prime location on PA Route 65 because it provides easy access between Ohio and Pennsylvania, and will allow their area operators to circumvent the congested traffic in downtown Pittsburgh.
The pictures below highlight how a commercial real estate building of this size and scope is constructed.
